The Language of Leaves
Today, as I was walking on the Biology Trail with Elohim, the Earth was echoing a very important message: This is the season of letting go. While the path was covered in bright decaying leaves, I noticed that there were very few leaves, still desperately clinging to the branches. They do not let go all at once, but rather little by little, as each gentle or harsh wind passes through.
All these trees are obeying His design. They are surrendering to the discomfort of being completely bare and naked. But it is only for a season. In a few short months, they will be clothed in vibrant greens and beautiful flowers. Fruit will emerge from their branches for all living things. They will experience the fullness of the blessing Elohim has called them to make room and wait patiently for.
As I came home from my walk, I marvelled over all the brightly-colored, decaying leaves I had carefully collected. As I was lining them up on my kitchen table, I thought, how accustomed I am to death that I declare it beautiful, welcome it into my home, and offer it a place at my table. And in that moment of a desperate attempt at preservation, I realized, perhaps the beauty isn't in the dead thing itself, but in the promise of life that will soon come after.
So, if there is something our Heavenly Father is calling you to let go of, no matter how beautiful, I pray you'll trust Him and wait for the promise that will soon arrive to take its place.
Isaiah 43:18-19
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
